How to Verify if Your Beauty Product is FDA Philippines Registered
A step-by-step guide to checking the FDA PH database so you never unknowingly use an unregistered cosmetic again.

Why FDA Registration Matters
The Philippines Food and Drug Administration (FDA PH) regulates all cosmetics, skincare, and personal care products sold in the country. A registered product has passed safety screening — meaning the FDA has reviewed its formulation, labeling, and manufacturing standards.
Unregistered products are not necessarily dangerous, but they haven't been reviewed. In a market flooded with online sellers and social media ads, verification is your first line of defense — especially for products used during pregnancy or on sensitive skin.
Step-by-Step: How to Check
Go to the FDA PH verification portal
Visit verify.fda.gov.ph or the main site at fda.gov.ph → Verification → Cosmetics. This is the official, free public database.
Select 'Cosmetics' as the product type
FDA PH separates drugs, food, cosmetics, and medical devices. For skincare, makeup, and personal care products, select Cosmetics.
Search by brand name or product name
Type in the brand (e.g., 'CeraVe') or the product name. The search is not always exact — try partial names if you don't get results.
Check the registration number
A valid registration will show a Cosmetic Notification (CN) number. It looks like: CN-XXXX-XXXX. Look for this on the product packaging too.
Confirm the registration is active
Check the expiry date on the registration. An expired registration means the brand may not have renewed — worth flagging, especially for new purchases.
What the CN Number Looks Like
Every FDA-registered cosmetic product in the Philippines should display its Cosmetic Notification number on the packaging, usually in small print near the distributor information. It typically looks like:
If a product is sold online without any CN number and you can't find it in the FDA database, that's a red flag.
Red Flags to Watch Out For
- ⚠️No CN number on packaging or listing
- ⚠️Product only sold via Facebook/Instagram with no official distributor
- ⚠️Claims of 'whitening in 3 days' or other extreme results — these often indicate unregistered or mislabeled products
- ⚠️Seller can't provide proof of registration when asked
- ⚠️Product smells strongly chemical or causes immediate irritation
